چکیده
In this work, several commercial high-emissivity coatings have been characterized in terms of emissivity, chemical composition and dielectric properties as a function temperature, under microwave irradiation. Accurate knowledge their response exposure to microwaves provides new crucial information about practical usability for non-contact temperature measurements environments. Due high metallic content, some the studied exhibited unexpected microwave-triggered reactions that hindered use up maximum specified by manufacturers. Emissivity analyses before after heating cycles confirmed degradation samples predicted measurements. This work illustrates how careful characterization optical representative operating conditions (temperature range, exposure) is vital order select appropriate reference coating obtain reliable applications.

High Temperature Microwave Dielectric Properties of Ceramic Nano and Micropowders
The problem of microwave enhanced mass transport in solids remains an area of great interest and continued research in the microwave processing of materials. Many researchers have reported that microwave sintering of materials reduces the time and often the temperature of the sintering procedure [1]. The mechanisms of the mass transport enhancement phenomenon by microwaves termed “Microwave Eff...
متن کاملPermittivity Measurements of High Dielectric Constant Films at Microwave Frequencies
We have developed a time-domain reflectometry (TDR) technique to measure the dielectric permittivity of high dielectric constant films. The test specimen consists of a planar capacitor terminating coaxial waveguide. The complex permittivity of the dielectric in the frequency domain is obtained from appropriate analysis of the incident and the reflected voltage waves. In order to improve accurac...
متن کاملLow emissivity high-temperature tantalum thin film coatings for silicon devices
The authors study the use of thin ( 230 nm) tantalum (Ta) layers on silicon (Si) as a low emissivity (high reflectivity) coating for high-temperature Si devices. Such coatings are critical to reduce parasitic radiation loss, which is one of the dominant loss mechanisms at high temperatures (above 700 C). The key factors to achieve such a coating are low emissivity in the near infrared and super...

متن کاملRadiometric Measurements of the Microwave Emissivity of Reproducible Breaking Waves
In a recent experiment the microwave emissivity of foam on calm water was measured to be 0.75 to 0.95 and dependent on polarization [1]. Microwave radiometric measurements of breaking waves on the open ocean showed that the emission due to wave breaking varies with the time dynamics of the wave, as well as with radiometer polarization and viewing angle [2]. However, the inherent intermittency a...
